NIUOnline is an email listserv developed in response to requests from NIU faculty as a place to discuss and explore techniques, solutions, and share general information on using technology in their online and face-to-face teaching. Faculty are encourage to use this listserv as a means for sharing ideas to improve the online teaching and learning experiences they offer their students. General discussion will emphasize the pedagogical issues surrounding online teaching, including student and faculty readiness to teach and learn online. Faculty are also encouraged to share their experiences, online teaching tips, and most successful assignments. These topics may be supplemented by attention to technical concerns such as: using Blackboard learning management system, content management, podcasting, multimedia, blogging, gaming and multi-user virtual environments.
This listserv is not designed to be a mode for Blackboard technical support. If you have a technical issue with Blackboard, please do NOT post it to the listserv but rather call 815.753.8100 or email helpdesk@niu.edu so that a trouble ticket can be opened and you can receive prompt assistance.

To subscribe to the NIUOnline listserv, click here and complete the subscription form provided. You will be asked to provide your email address, your name (optional), and a password. You will then be sent an email requesting confirmation to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.
*Note - If you desire to subscribe using your NIU GroupWise email, use your complete email address including your NIU Novell ID (e.g. a123456@wpo.cso.niu.edu) rather than your alias address (e.g. alias@niu.edu).

While ITS Blackboard support personnel may monitor the list from time to time, the focus of the list is for faculty to share ideas and network concerning how they are using online technologies.
