Creating a Grading Period

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.
    Click Gradecenter
  3. Click the Manage button from the Action Bar of the Grade Center.

  4. Click Grading Periods from the Manage dropdown listing.

  5. Click the Add Grading Period button to create a Grading Period.

  6. Enter in the Name (required) and Description (optional).

  7. Select a Grading Period Dates option (see details below for more information).

    • None – no dates will be associated with the Grading Period.
    • Range – to associate a date range with the Grading Period, select the Start and End Dates for the period. Any column with a due date within the specified range will be automatically added to the Grading Period.
    • Associate Columns – checking this box will associate all Grade columns and Calculated Columns that were previously created with Due Dates to the corresponding Grading Period.
      Note: Grade Center items cannot be associated with more than one Grading Period.  A newly created Grading Period with the same or an overlapping date range will override the settings of an existing Grading Period.  All items associated with the existing Grading Period will become associated with the new one.
  8. Click the Submit button to create the Grading Period.
  9. Submit
    Note: A Success message and the new Grading Period are displayed.

  10. To return to the Grade Center main screen, click the OK button.

Viewing Items by Grading Period

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.

  3. To change the Current View to one by Grading Period, click the down arrows to the right of the current view’s name.

  4. Select the Grading Period you wish to view from the list.

    Note: Items associated to the selected Grading Period are displayed.
  5. To save the current view as the Default view, click the Set as Default button.

Modifying a Grading Period

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.

  3. Click the Manage button from the Action Bar of the Grade Center.

  4. Click Grading Periods from the Manage dropdown listing.

  5. Find the Grading Period to change and click the Modify button.

  6. Modify the Name, Description, and Dates as needed.
    Enter Name
  7. Click the Submit button to save the changes.

    Note: A Success message and the updated Grading Period will be displayed.
  8. To return to the Grade Center main screen, click the OK button.

Deleting a Grading Period

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.
    Click Gradecenter
  3. Click the Manage button from the Action Bar of the Grade Center.

  4. Click Grading Periods from the Manage dropdown listing.

  5. Find the Grading Period to change and click its Remove button.

  6. Confirm the removal of the Grading Period by clicking the OK button.
    Click OK
    Note: The Grading Period is removed from the listing. All Grade Center items associated to this Grading Period will be reset to "Not in a Grading Period."
  7. To return to the Grade Center main screen, click the OK button.
