In order to receive a Blackboard account, you must have an NIU AccountID. New faculty will be automatically provided with an AccountID, TAs must request a Blackboard AccountID from the chair of the department in which they teach. Faculty members must be listed as official Faculty member of record with Registration and Records in order to be included in the Blackboard database. The department needs to relay the faculty member record information to Registration and Records.

To access Blackboard:

  1. Go to http://webcourses.niu.edu.
  2. Click the Yes button to bypass security window if one appears.
  3. Login using your NIU AccountID as username and the corresponding password as Blackboard password. Students use their Z-ID and password for Blackboard login.
  4. To enter a course, click the underlined title of the course.
    Note: Be certain to click on the actual course title and not the Course Announcements link.
