Blackboard offers the following Communication areas: Email, Discussion Board, Virtual Classroom, Roster, Messages and Group Pages. FACULTY can choose which areas will be available for student use. The Communication areas within Blackboard offer ways for faculty to extend a sense of community beyond the traditional classroom. Some students also feel more comfortable participating in discussions in the online environment rather than in a face-to-face situation.
