The Search Content tool allows you to use the Basic or Advanced Search to locate materials in the Blackboard Content Collection to which you have permission. The Search tool is very useful because it allows you to find files that somebody else has given you permissions to access. These files are not seen under My Content. You can use the file name or the username of the owner of the file to search for the content.
The Search tool can be accessed by clicking on the Tools icon in the Content Collection left panel. You can save your searches and copy the files and folders you have permission to read to your user space in My Content.

The Basic Search allows you to search for files by entering file contents words or phraases or by a file or folder name.
To perform the Basic Search enter the file or folder name or a phrase in the file contents and click "Submit."

If there are any files and folders with those criteria on the system that you have permissions to, they will be listed in the search results. You can then copy the files to your space or simply read the contents.

The Advanced Search provides additional search parameters that allow you to narrow down the search results. You can also safe your search if you want to perform it in the future.

Saved searches can be accessed by clicking on the Search tool and then Saved Searches. Saved searches can be modified or removed from the list.
