Adaptive Release (Advanced)

Create or Modify an Advanced Adaptive Release Rule

The process for creating or modifying an advanced adaptive release rule is quite similar to that of creating the basic rules. Advanced rules make it possible to require students to complete several different prerequisites before receiving access. Advanced adaptive release rules contain several criteria as opposed to a single criterion used when configuring basic rules. (ie: An advanced rule is in essence a combination of several basic rules, also referred to as criteria.)

Create an Advanced Rule: To create an advanced adaptive release rule, navigate to the location in the course where the content, assignment, or assessment you wish to restrict resides. Click the Edit View button to make changes or add documents.

Click the Managebutton to have gain access to both the basic and adaptive release tools.

Select Adaptive Release: Advancedto create or edit basic adaptive release rules.

Click Ruleto create a new rule.

Enter a name for the new rule and then click "SUBMIT"

Enter the name of the rule

Now that the rule is created, criteria must be set following the same steps as creating a basic rule. Select the type of criteria you wish to enable. **Caution - The Review Status criterion is problematic. DO NOT employ a review status criterion in any adaptive release rules.

Select the type of criteria to add

Follow the steps previously listed for adding one or more criteria:

Click to select each of the criteria which have been created and then click "OK."

Click to select each of the criteria

Confirm deployment of the advanced rule that has been configured by clicking to select the rule and then "OK.

Confirm deployment of the advanced rule
