Communications

Students in ClassThe communication tools available within Blackboard serve as an integral part of the teaching process. Collaboration tools including Lightweight Chat and Virtual Classroom allow for synchronous (real-time) communication. These real-time tools allow for group meetings, study groups, and even online office hours to take place. Because these sessions can be archived or recorded, it is possible for users to review them at a later date. Asynchronous (not at the same time) tools include: the Digital Drop Box, commonly used for homework submission, as well as e-mail and message functions which serve as the primary means of communication in most courses. Announcements are another useful asynchronous tool which provide students with a quick glance of updates and reminders from the Course Homepage.
