Blackboard e-mail is a tool designed to help faculty communicate with students, fellow staff members and TA’s. The Blackboard e-mail tool allows faculty to send e-mails to select students, TA’s or entire class. It is not necessary for the faculty member to know the email address of the individual receiving the email. It also saves a copy of sent messages in NIU email account for your record.

Steps:

  1. Login to Blackboard using your ID and PASSWORD
  2. Select a COURSE
  3. Click on CONTROL PANEL in the left panel


  4. Click on SEND EMAIL in the COURSE TOOLS
  5. Select ALL USERS or SINGLE USER
  6. Select a recipient’s name from the AVAILABLE TO SELECT list and add to SELECTED list
  7. Type in a SUBJECT
  8. Write your MESSAGE
  9. A file can be attached by clicking on ATTACH A FILE
  10. Click SUBMIT to send the message
